Denis Harrison tragically taken from us August 16th at 02-40 am in the year 2006.
I dont want to sound satirical of the medical proffession but diagnoseing candida instead of myloma
is a bitter pill to swallow ( excuse the pun ) ....

Denis worked most of his life at Rawdon Colliery .. infact when he had a rest day Rawdon ceased
working.
To sum Denis up he was effectionatly known as "THE WORKING MANS FREDDIE STARR" .
He was the life and sole of the party and where ever he went the centre of attention was his "
HE WOULDNT HAVE IT ANY OTHER WAY"
I could write paragraph after paragraph about him.... but those that knew him know exactly what i
write is true and have there own wonderful memories of him.
Denis was the son of Harold & the late Mary Harrison brother to Joy .. the late Julie ...myself
& Ivor.
The date that sticks in my mind more than ever was June 22nd 2006... whilst visiting Denis in Derby
Royal Hospital....... i was asked to go a secluded room to see 1 of the top consultants petaining
Denis,s condition
to my astonishment it was said that Denis had multiple myloma and his kidneys where in the same
state as George Best,s ( irrespective that Denis was a non drinker ).
They gave Denis 3 months to live ................... How could i keep this from him........... I
COULDNT.... TRUE TO FORM DENIS WITH HIS USUAL FORTHRIGHT OPINION AND ROBUST MANOR BECKONED THE
CONSULTANT TO HIM................................ WITH THE CHARM AND WIT OF A CHUBBY BROWN DVD
"DENIS ASKED THE CONSULTANT CAN YOU F--KING CURE ME OR WHAT "
The consultant replied " NO DENIS BUT I CAN GIVE YOU A LITTLE BIT LONGER LIFE IF YOU STAY IN
HOSPITAL.
This was the bravest thing id ever seen or heard...... Denis replied " WELL F--K IT THEN IM
GOING TO OUR NEIL.S AND THAT HE DID.
Whilst at my house he never lost that sledge hammer wit ...... on 1 occiasion he said to 1 of the
Mcmillian nurses " HINT IT ABOUT TIME THEY SENT A GOOD LOOKING F--KER ,I DONT WANT A UGLY WOMEN
LIKE YOU WASHING ME.................AND THIS WAS FROM A MAN AT DEATHS DOOR

Deep in my heart i know that you would have liked me to make your site pig ignorant..crude...vulgar..etc.
You would have been in your eliment and loved every minute
of it..... SORRY YOUTH I CANT MAKE IT THE WAY YOU WOULD HAVE WANTED IT.
Ive saved those moments to myself and will remain with me
